Consular Processing

Consular Processing

While the term consular processing sounds vague, it refers to a process that lets US citizens bring family members to the United States. The family members allowed to be brought over must be spouses, parents or children of the US citizen who are under the age of 21.

Who is eligible for consular processing?

Requirements for family members being petitioned to enter the United States:

  • Spouse, parent, or child (under 21) of the US citizen
  • Family members have never been unlawfully present in the US
  • Family members have no (or very minor) criminal histories in their home country

In addition, the US citizen must not have any criminal history involving sex crimes.

While ideally all of these stipulations should be met, there are some exceptions. If you or your family members don’t quite meet all of the requirements, be sure to consult with an immigration attorney to go over all of your options before you give up.

How can Monument Immigration help with consular processing?

Monument will give you all the information you need so you know exactly what’s required to apply, help you gather your application information, and prepare your submission quickly and accurately.

We can have your consular processing application ready for submission within just 48 business hours after receiving your documentation and information.

We also provide consultations on interview preparedness (for free) to make sure you and your family are completely ready for consular processing.

How long does consular processing take?

The government usually takes about 9 months to review consular processing applications.

Why should I apply for consular processing?

Consular processing allows you and your immediate family members to live in the United States together. Once approved, family members will immediately become Lawful Permanent Residents as Green Card holders.

How much does a consular processing consultation cost?

The government filing fee for consular processing is $860, and Monument charges a flat rate of $3500 for consular processing.

If you choose to pay the entire amount immediately, you’ll receive a 10% discount. If not, we’re more than happy to offer a zero-interest payment plan that fits your budget.

We’re proud to support you and your family as you chase the American Dream, and providing fair, competitively priced legal services is just part of how we achieve that mission.

Questions & Answers

How can I send you my documents? Do you need originals?

The government allows most documents you submit to be copies, meaning you can easily send your documents by email or fax, or upload them through your client portal. You’re also able to mail or drop off your documents at our office.

However, be prepared to provide original documents to your interview.

Is there anything I can do to make my application move faster?

Yes! Although there’s no way to expedite the process after we submit it to the government, getting all of the details right on your application makes all the difference.

That means accurately completing your online questionnaire so we can begin preparing your forms ASAP, and sending us your photos, filing fee checks and supporting documents immediately.

Will someone attend my interview with me?

Although we offer interview attendance for just $250, we make sure you’re totally prepared beforehand so you’ll feel confident and relaxed on your own.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards, debit cards, cash and checks.

Can I switch attorneys?

You’re welcome to change attorneys whenever you like, and you’re also entitled to a copy of your file from your last immigration lawyer.
